The classic Norman Granz-produced 1956 Verve album Pres And Teddy not only saw the reunion of tenor saxophonist Lester Young and pianist Teddy Wilson but also dispelled the rumors that the former had all but squandered his giant talent by the 1950s due to drug addiction. Performing in a quartet rounded out by Gene Ramey (bass) and Jo Jones (drums), the pair are both as intense and expressive as ever and serve as the perfect foil to one another on standout cuts like “All of Me” and “Prisoner of Love.”
